I'm New Posts: 2 Group: Members Member #5,525 Joined: November 21, 2009	Archon Defender is my latest film, a feature length animated film created entirely by myself over the last 3 years using 3D studio max and adobe after effects. The film was recently awarded 1st place in animation at the SkyFest 2009 festival in Asheville, NC. I've posted the entire film online for free on my youtube channel (where it has been popular, ever since being featured on the main youtube page a couple of weeks ago) I was heavily influenced by Aronofsky's "The Fountain", which is a brilliant masterpiece of emotional storytelling, with it's interlocking elements of past, present, and future, presented within a coherent underlying mythology. A rarity of a film, Aronofsky has definitely grown as a director over the course of his films, I'm looking forward to seeing what he has to offer next. Oddly enough I like his 'limited CG' approach to the film. Being a 3D artist, you might assume the opposite :) However: I'm sick of seeing the stock, formulaic, photorealistic (but just not quite), poorly composited, fake 'run cycle' in the background that I'm not supposed to notice, pile of rubbish that's been coming out of the turkey farm lately. In my own film, I've taken a stylistic, cel shaded, 'non photorealistic' technique which I've developed as somewhat of a signature style for myself, Aronofsky has achieved a similar effect by filming all the effects with practical effects. The style and method used to create a film should interlock with the story and the underlying mythology, and act as a framework to support the rest of the film, as a coherent seamless work of art.
