As a reaction to Justinlovesmovies' post, here would be an interesting concept:
each week, each user of the forum post one (and only one) movie he liked and he would like to share. That would give many ideas for everybody without flooding under 250 titles.

If you like this principle, I go first:

Eureka (Yureka in Japan) by Aoyama Shinji - Japan
Quite long (~3h30) but incredibly touching. Actors are wonderful. The story of the rebirth of 2 chocked children. The black and white picture is so beautiful. You MUST see this movie (then thank me :D )

Oh man, Remiz, thanks so much for reminding me about Eureka. I had wanted to see this film waaaay back when I could hardly even find any info about it, but I eventually forgot about it completely. Now you have rejuvenated my interest and I hope I can find someway to see it soon.

Thanks again.

I ended up watching the Robert Altman flick Nashville the other day. What a glorious piece of mumbled up junk.

Beowulf, I think that quote from Lax is legendary.

Oh, and I apologize about my presence on AIM as of later. I do live in a dorm and there has been a lot of issues on the floor lately.

Oh, I'll recommend another film, High and Low by Kurosawa.

Are you watching John Ford films yet? If not once again I recommend the Searchers.

If not madly out of context

Hey ! Isn't that a new week ? :D

Tampopo by Jizo Itami

A marvellous movie about noodles (I swear !) including several funny sketches. A real unforgetable UFO.

I heard about this one a long time ago and have been meaning to come back to it, thanks for the reminder!

La Belle Noiseuse

A four hour exploration of the artist's inspiration from master filmmaker Jacques Rivette. A truly remarkable film and one of the greatest I have seen that deals with the artistic process.

An oldy that I felt like watching today,

Jean-Luc Godard, Bande a Part. Still one of my favorites and still a good film every time I watch it.
